Basic principles of category B training program
Organizational bases of teaching |
Beginner level: The training of category B drivers consists of theoretical preparation and driving lessons in accordance with the curriculum. Theoretical lessons take place in an auto class equipped with visual aids and relevant technology (computer, projector, etc.). Driving lessons are conducted in a training vehicle under the guidance of an instructor. Advanced level: Theoretical lessons take place in an auto class equipped with visual aids and relevant technology (computer, projector, etc.). Driving lessons are conducted in a training vehicle under the guidance of an instructor. |
Activities and methods for achieving learning outcomes |
Beginner level: Theoretical lessons take place in the auto class in the form of lectures and dialogues. To achieve the best results, various aids are used - illustrative drawings, photos, diagrams, video films, video clips relevant to the topic being studied. Driving lessons take place in a training vehicle. For the best results, illustrative drawings and diagrams relevant to the topic being taught are used. Advanced level: Theoretical lessons take place in the auto class in the form of lectures and dialogues. To achieve the best results, various aids are used - illustrative drawings, photos, diagrams, video films, video clips relevant to the topic being studied. Driving lessons take place in a training vehicle. |
Assessment methods (checking the achievement of learning outcomes) |
Beginner level: After each theoretical lesson, a test is conducted. Tests correspond to the covered (studied) topic. After receiving test results, mistakes in the answers are discussed. Test results are recorded in the journal - "P" (passed), if the student did not manage to understand the topic - "NP" (not passed). In this case, the student needs to retake the test. At the end of each driving lesson, a note is made in the training card about the results of the studies - if the student acquired the necessary skills and experience - marked "P" (passed), if the student did not acquire the necessary experience - "NP" (not passed). Each topic of the driving lesson is worked through until the student has mastered it and receives a grade - "P", and only then moves on to another topic of the lesson. Advanced level: A knowledge check occurs at the end of the theoretical preparation. At the end of the driving lesson, a note is made in the training card about the results of the studies - if the student acquired the necessary skills and experience - marked "P" (passed), if the student did not acquire the necessary experience - "NP" (not passed). |
Assessment criteria (requirements for assessing learning outcomes) |
Beginner level: The level of the student's theoretical preparation is determined after checking knowledge by testing in each studied topic.
An instructor makes a note in the training card allowing participation in traffic after the student has acquired basic driving skills on the vehicle at the training lot. The basic elements of driving a vehicle in the city are practiced on roads with low traffic intensity. As the student's skill level increases, tasks become more complex, and the training is considered complete when the student's skills meet the qualification requirements for a category B vehicle driver. Advanced level: Theoretical training: The student has acquired the fundamentals of economical, environmentally friendly driving style, and behavior in slippery road conditions. Driving training: The student participates in a driving lesson, which is more motivated to drive in an environmentally friendly, risk-avoiding manner considering other road users, and knows how to emergency brake and use the necessary techniques to swerve around obstacles. |
Timing plan for completing subjects |
The minimum duration of the beginner level is 4 weeks. The advanced level training lasts at least 1 day. |
Volume of subjects |
Beginner level: Theoretical training - at least 28 hours, (1 academic hour - 45 minutes) - classroom form. Driving training - at least 30 hours, (1 academic hour - 45 minutes). First aid training - (16 academic hours). The volume of first aid training in theory lessons is 16 hours, of which 6 hours are in the form of a practical session. Driving at night: Theoretical training - at least 1 hour, (1 academic hour - 45 minutes) - practical training form. Driving training - at least 1 hour, (1 academic hour - 45 minutes). Practicing skid maneuvers at beginner level: Theoretical training - at least 2 hours, (1 academic hour - 45 minutes) - classroom form. Driving training - at least 1 hour, (1 academic hour - 45 minutes). Advanced level: Theoretical training - at least 4 hours, (1 academic hour - 45 minutes) - classroom form. Driving training - at least 2 hours, (1 academic hour - 45 minutes). Volume of subjects by topics in Appendix 1. |
Content of independent work |
Beginner level: At the beginner level, students are required to study independently and then develop their knowledge of traffic rules, solve tests, read literature related to safe traffic (textbooks, books, electronic educational materials). Advanced level: Not applicable at the advanced level. |
List of mandatory literature |
Beginner level:
Advanced level: Not applicable at the advanced level. |
The role of the instructor and opportunities for involving the instructor in preparing the driver for additional driving practice. |
Beginner level: After acquiring sufficient driving experience on the training lot (noted in the training card as "allowed to participate in traffic"), students have the opportunity to drive with an instructor in a legally established manner. Additional hours with the instructor are not counted in the school's training program. Advanced level: Not applicable at the advanced level. |
